Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is LeQuan (pronounced lee-kwon) and I’m a stay at home mother of two sweet, sweet little monsters….oops did I say monsters? I meant two sweet, sweet little angels As most parents would agree, kids can be little monsters at times but for the most part they’re mommy’s little angels. I graduated from the University of Alberta (Canada) and taught high school math and science for about 3 years. After I had my first child I decided to stay home and put my career on hold for a while. Now I have a 3 year old daughter and a one year old son who keep me on my toes all day. I am a neat freak but my hubby likes to call it OCD haha. Ever since the kids, I think I’ve eased up a little though. Here’s what my house usually looks like nowadays (yikes):

My husband Gary and I started dating in high school, got married a couple years after finishing university, and then had kids right away. We both love to eat. As a matter of fact, I’m sure our common love for food is one thing that kept us together all these years teehee. Last year I watched this movie called Saving Face (if you haven’t seen it you really must cause it’s such a great movie!) and became a huge Lynn Chen fan. After becoming a fan of hers on Facebook and following her on Twitter, that lead me to her food blog The Actor’s Diet (which she used to co-blog with friend and fellow actress Christy Meyers). Yes I Lynn Chen stalk (as my hubby calls it) and am not afraid to admit it…teehee. As I read more and more of their posts it began to inspire me to start my own blog. But at the time my daughter was 2 and my son was only 9 months and very clingy (so clingy that my husband and I nicknamed him koala) so I never found the time to start one until now. So thank you Actor’s Diet for the inspiration I’m hoping this blog will allow me to talk about my two passions in life (my kiddies and FOOD), help me cope with the stresses of motherhood (keeping me sane at the same time), and help me gain some experience and input of what other moms and food lovers are going through.
Another reason for starting this blog is because I used to eat a lot of junk food, but ever since my first pregnancy I made the choice to cut back and started eating “somewhat” healthier. I say “somewhat” because I still have the tendency to binge once in a while. Back in the days before I had my kids I would binge eat a lot. I used to play a lot of sports from tennis, to volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, ping pong, floor hockey…you name it I played it. It didn’t affect my weight gain too much so I just kept eating whatever junk whenever. Now that I have kids I would like to set a good example for them. I also don’t have the time to exercise as much so it would definitely be in my best interest to quit the binge eating and start a healthier lifestyle. These days I’m lucky if I get half an hour of DDR in for some exercise (love DDR).
As you can see, my husband and I are Asian so this blog will probably feature a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese food. On the occasion we do like to eat Japanese, Korean, and Western food. I’m hoping to write in this blog at least once a week, most definitely not everyday untill my kids are a little older and less needy.
